RiverWalk Pathway
RiverWalk is an essential component to the multi-year rejuvenation of Calgary’s East Village. Dedicated pedestrian and cycle lanes wind their way along the edge of the Bow and Elbow rivers, dotted by restful benches nestled among naturalized vegetation.
Cygnus designed and oversaw delivery for all wayfinding and placemaking elements. The result is a network of information panels, pylons and area maps that help users connect intuitively to over 700km of urban pathways.

Calgarians love RiverWalk. Hundreds of fresh air enthusiasts run, cycle and stroll along the award-winning urban pathway every day. Our work is an important part of the overall success; ensuring residents feel knowledgeable and safe throughout 700km of pathways.
Safety and accessibility are important factors in the success of the pathway network. Wayfinding and placemaking efforts were given special priority in addressing these qualities for overall success. Our program ensures that visitors are aware of access points, feel secure at all times of day and have the confidence to explore on their own.
